A Loram ballast cleaning went to work right in front of the photo pavilion later in theafternoon.  It had two big paddle wheel  shaped scoops that collected the ballast at the edge of the ties, sifted it, and then returned the ballast back to the track just to the right of the person standing next to the machine.  The debris that made through the sifters was dumped, via a conveyor belt, about 20 feet away from the track on the opposite side of the machine.
